Not all older programs will run successfully in Windows Compatibility Mode, it should be noted. Click Apply and then OK and then click on the program shortcut again to see if it runs or not.
In the menu that appears, click on Properties, then on the Compatibility tab, then place a check beside the line reading "Run in Compatibility Mode" and choose "Vista" as the version of Windows you want to run the program in. To run Flight Simulator X in Windows Compatibility Mode, locate your Flight Simulator X shortcut and right click over it. This is essentially produces a simulated version of an older version of Windows that supports a program made for that earlier version. Thus, to launch older programs on Windows 8 and 10 machines, you must run the program in Windows Compatibility Mode. Keep in mind that many programs made for Windows prior to the release of Windows 8 no longer run cleanly on Windows 8 or 10. Unfortunately, Microsoft stopped supporting Vista-tailored programs in 2017, so this is likely the reason why the program ran well in the past but is not loading on your computer currently (as your system probably runs Windows 8 or 10 now). If your copy included 3 DVDs in its package, then (according to research) there is a good chance you have the version made for Windows Vista. The latest version of the program is called Microsoft Flight Simulator X and it was released in 2014 for various outlets, including Xbox, PC and more. Since then, the program, its graphics and its interface have evolved in tandem with the technology around it, with an assortment of gaming and military software companies assisting Microsoft with the game’s development, upkeep and distribution along the way. I also went online and found several tips to help get it running but none of those worked.
I called Microsoft but was told that they do not support it anymore. However now I cannot get the program to start anymore.
At one time, my Microsoft Flight Simulator program worked fine on it.
